Style Muse- Cate Blanchett

Our first style muse is our very own Aussie icon, the beautiful and always stylish Cate Blanchett. Her style is individual, with her own quirky edge. She can do classics, but usually manages to stay away from dull. She has graced many fashion magazines, including Vogue and Marie Claire and Vanity Fair.
Not only is she an amazing actress, having won many awards, including an Oscar for playing Katharine Hepburn (another style muse of her time) in Martin Scorsese’s The Aviator in 2005.

She is stylish and natural and concerned with issues that affect us all- such as climate change, and our planet’s future. She has said

“I’m extremely concerned about climate change as a mother, because I want to ensure for my children a very safe and sustainable future.”

Her environmental awareness has led her to transform her own home to take it off the electricity grid, and is powered entirely with solar panels. She has also installed a 20 000 litre water tank, low energy lighting and grey-water recycling. She has also changed her habits- by committing to driving 20 kilometres a week less, and reducing energy usage.

And as creative director of the Sydney Theatre company, with husband Andrew Upton, she has plans to take the Sydney theatre company off the grid also

A busy mum to 3 kids, she even brought her 6 day old son, Iggy to the 2020 summit in Canberra, a summit designed to help us shape a long term-strategy for the nation’s future.
Of ageing, and body image and plastic surgery, she has said:

“I see some one’s face, some one’s body who has had children, and I think that’s the song lines of your experience. And why would you want to eradicate that?”

For all these reasons, our Cate truly deserves to be a Style muse.
